Jocosa Bruce
Jocosa Bruce leads the Greater Auckland Chorus (GAC) with a mix of musical excellence, creative theatre, and infectious energy. Under her direction the chorus has grown artistically, strengthened its community culture, and achieved international success on the Sweet Adelines stage.
Musical Roots
Jocosa became a Sweet Adeline at just 12 years old and arrived with a deep musical toolkit: piano training, cello in both the Auckland and New Zealand Secondary Schools orchestras, choral singing in the Opus Choir at Epsom Girls’ Grammar, and experience in musical theatre. That broad musical upbringing underpins the stylistic range and musicianship she brings to GAC. She has been active in Sweet Adelines for decades and is recognised within the organisation for her coaching and performance skills.
Leadership & Coaching Style
Members describe Jocosa’s approach as fresh, modern, and high‑energy. She combines strong musical standards with an encouraging, relationship‑centred rehearsal room—building confidence, connection, and accountability across the risers. Her collaborative planning with the music team has produced imaginative themed show packages (including the now‑famous “Haunted House” set), and she invests heavily in coaching input to keep artistry, storytelling, and vocal production moving forward.

Milestone Achievements with GAC
Regional Breakthrough (2023): GAC captured first place in Division A (small chorus) at the Sweet Adelines Region 35 contest, posting a top qualifying score that earned an invitation to the Harmony Classic.
International Triumph – Kansas City (Oct 28–Nov 2, 2024): Jocosa led GAC to the Sweet Adelines International Harmony Classic Division A stage in Kansas City with an inventive, theatrical 15‑minute “Haunted House” entertainment package. The chorus won the contest—bringing home gold medals and the Harmony Classic Division A title.
2025 World Champions: By virtue of that win, Greater Auckland Chorus holds the 2025 Sweet Adelines Harmony Classic Division A World Championship title.
